Atwood?

I acquired lots of Margaret Atwood books in preparation for Advent with Atwood last year, and I didn’t really love the books I read:

The Penelopiad – 8/10 (this was good)

The Edible Woman – 2/10 and DNF

The Blind Assassin – 6/10.

I have so many more on the shelves, but in my current spirit of GET RID OF ALL THE THINGS, I’m thinking of giving Atwood one more book to convince me and then get rid of the rest. So – what should I read first? I have Oryx and Crake, Cat’s Eye, The Handmaid’s Tale, Lady Oracle, Life Before Man and Alias Grace.

Atwood lovers out there, you get to pick one to convince me!

Atwood isn’t easy by any means, but every woman should attempt Handmaid’s Tale at least once.

I think you should read both The Handmaid’s Tale and Alias Grace. They are very different from each other and are my favourites. I also loved the Maddaddam trilogy.

Handmaid’s Tale because the ending of Alias Grace is 100% risky. PS. You should totally get The Robber Bride (helping/not helping)

Loved The Handmaid’s Tale (and The Penelopiad too).

I’m with you on not loving The Edible Woman. However, I did love The Handmaid’s Tale and Oryx and Crake. Not read the others you’re asking about so can’t say either way on them!
