We’ve been promised snow but it doesn’t seem to be materialising; which is actually just fine with me because I have to travel around quite a lot tomorrow and it will be MUCH easier without lines being down due to snow.
Started at a new client this week, totally different industry to my previous experience and actually quite a different corporate culture, which is fascinating. Ever watched a whole office get up and leave at 5:31pm? It’s surreal. We’re just sat at a table in the middle of everything which is impinging on my introvert, noise-limited nerves, but the team are being great which always helps.
Spent most of yesterday recovering from the week – took my first voluntary nap since I was a child only to wake up with someone on the street screaming abuse at passers by… South London’s classy sometimes. Finally finished a translation I have owed a friend for over a month, so I can once more promote my business with a clear conscience – German to English translation and English proofreading, find me at YES Languages!
Book wise it’s been a shallow week because I’m back to cycling – it’s an 8 mile cycle to this place but about 3 miles of that is across parks and another 3 miles down pretty quiet roads. Seeing the sunrise in the east over the river as I cross Chelsea Bridge is pretty cool. And at night, they light up the bridge like at a fun fair:
which is very pretty.
Anyway I managed to finish off Dances with Wolves by Michael Blake; I can’t really decide what the book thought it was (western? romance? Army v Indians adventure?) so struggling to review it a bit. Next week I’m travelling around a lot more so will probably get a lot more reading done.
