Advent with Austen wrap-up

Well that’s the end of that! As today is Christmas Eve and thus the last day of Advent, Advent with Austen is officially over.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who made it so much fun! This is the first blogging event I’ve hosted and I had a whale of a time.

Highlights:

The Sense & Sensibility read-a-long: part 1, 2, 3, 4

The Sense & Sensibility Twitter Movie Night

Being a host and getting a ton of ping-backs! It was such a thrill to know that people were talking about Advent with Austen on their blogs.

Don’t forget about the giveaway which will be drawn when I get home from my little Christmas excursion to the north; all you need to do for the giveaway is have signed one of the Mr Linky’s (they were supposed to be the same one but weren’t) either in the original signup post or on this giveaway post. Winners will be contacted in turn so that they can pick their prize of choice, which now also includes my copy of Jane Austen Made Me Do It, which I did not enjoy but you might!

My own personal achievement was:

4 books (Sense & Sensibility, Jane Austen Made Me Do It, Death Comes to Pemberley and Darcy’s Story) plus 2 movies (Sense & Sensibility and Clueless – come on, Clueless definitely counts as an Emma retelling) gives me 6 points, which according to my original scale makes me a Captain Wentworth!

Go me.

I got caught up with Christmas things so have been commenting less than I’d hoped, but thank you for Advent with Austen – it was the perfect reading fare for this time of year and I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s comments on Sense and Sensibility! Have a lovely Christmas and a very special New Year.

This wasn’t the right time for me to read Jane Austen – family things and Christmas preparations rather distracted me – but I have loved reading many wonderful posts and I am definitely going to do a lot of rereading when time and circumstance allows.

    Thank you!
