What are you reading now?
Would you recommend it?
And what’s next?
Right now, I am (unusually for me) being a book polygamist. I am:
34% through The Broken Teaglass by Emily Arsenault (I read In Search of the Rose Notes by her earlier in the year) – this is rather good, a solid 7/10 sort of book but with added points for being set in a dictionary company and therefore full of lexicographical delight.
On p26 of The Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell, which is wonderful but I feel I should be listening to it instead, which is why I haven’t read any further. It won’t be a re-read so why spend time reading when I want to listen, but I don’t have the audiobook and my library doesn’t have it either and I doubt it will come up on Bookmooch… oh the dilemmas.
On p66 of Fool Moon by Jim Butcher; this is the second of the Harry Dresden files and I feel much the same as I did about the first one. There’s a fun plot in there, but the writing is a bit too jovial for me and I’m not wrapped in the characters. The Physicist will never forgive me if I don’t read them though, so…
On p37 of Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters – this is quite fun, Victorian ladies go adventuring in Egypt. I feel like I should be sitting down for more than ten minutes at a time to read it though, so it’s not a great commute read.
Oh and on audio, I’m 62% through Stef Penney’s The Tenderness of Wolves which is excellent although a little slow.
Coming up next – I need to get through a few more of my review copies – far too many have piled up around here, particularly on NetGalley!
